Yay! Old medical things! My favorite! This New Orleans Pharmacy Museum that Gregory Han posted looks like such a delight. I also really enjoyed New Orleans when I visited last year and can't wait to return some day. I didn't know about the museum at the time but, will be sure to check it out next time I go.
We did however stop in a few times at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar which is reputed to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States.

Delicious Delight
A while back my good friend Mary gave me a book for my birthday. I never ever bake but, the All Cakes Considered book she gifted me definitely encouraged me to start.
I invited Mary over to help me bake a cake of my choice from the book. There is only two reasons I chose this cake: the level of difficulty (I chose and easy one) and the name "Argroves Manor Coffee Cake", sounds classy. Mary quickly became my baking sensei as she taught me new skills and baking terms. I encourage you to also learn from Mary at her tasty baking blog, Nimmow. Below is the recipe if you'd like to whip up this delicious delight for yourself also, here's the Flickr set to see how it all went down.

Corkstopper
I really adore this ceramic flask. I imagine it would feel weird drinking anything but milk out of it at first.

Infused Vodka Update
I know what your thinking. This looks like large amounts of urine in bottles with ironic labels.
Well, the tasting is tonight so we'll see if that's what it ends up tasting like or not. Wish me luck.

Doused: Blinding Science
Here's a project I've got going and will update when the outcome arises. I'm infusing vodka with pear, rose petals, and rose petals with sugar. I used to be a big fan of Shaker's Rose flavored vodka so I am giving a shot at mimicking it. The pear slices rose to the top by the next day. The rose leaves with sugar rose to the top within hours and the rose petals alone have no real float direction. I was curious after the fact if I should have made some sort of rose petal concentrate and then infused it with the concentrate.

Soused.
I don't mind the monogrammed flask, The colors are kinda nice actually. The other needlepoint flasks from Smathers and Branson were pretty hilarious. Reinforcing the stereotype that drinkers are jolly and humorous people......which they are.

Caddy Shack flask

Could have used this for my horse race jockey Halloween costume last year.
