Here's my DIY for glitter heeled shoes.
What I used:
Target shoes, glue, gold spray paint, glitter, painting tape.

I taped off the areas I did not want paint or glitter. I started off with spray painting the bottoms so the background would be gold to the gold glitter.

Never ever waste glitter.

Yay! Old medical things! My favorite! This New Orleans Pharmacy Museum that Gregory Han posted looks like such a delight. I also really enjoyed New Orleans when I visited last year and can't wait to return some day. I didn't know about the museum at the time but, will be sure to check it out next time I go.

We did however stop in a few times at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar which is reputed to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States.

Tape, Paper, Scissors

Beware: You are about to be exposed to some high levels of dorkage in regards to office supplies.

Recently I was in a conversation where a couple friends and I were discussing our favorite childhood toys. I didn't even have to think about it, my favorite toys were: tape, scissors and cardboard. Apparently I used to tape the small cracks in the walls of the stucco house grew up in and when my mother asked why I told her I was trying to fix them. I also once made a slot machine completely out of cardboard with the help of scissors and tape. I really wish I could inspect that project today.
Still today these are my favorite things to play with. Examples here and here.
So I've complied what would essentially be my "dream toys" to own.

Gold Plated Dressmaker's Shears
These just look classy I've actually never used them before.

Forged Shears

We have something similar to these at my work. They are basic, clean and glorious. They are the type of scissors that you know you're not supposed to run with. The only unsatisfactory thing I've noticed is that they can get squeaky.

Fiskars

Memories of my mother and learning to sew.

Scotch Tape (CLEAR)

This picture is rad and so is this tape. I'll take any kind that is clear and glossy. Most scotch tape is matte or frosty; it's labeled as "magic" or "invisible", neither of which are accurate descriptors. The clear, gloss finished Scotch or packaging tape is actually closer to being invisible and magic. This is the tape I use the most often.

Masking Tape

I haven't used this until recently. I like the 2 inch because it doesn't seem like masking tape anymore. Also any kind of colored masking tape that's not tan is highly appreciated.

Strapping Tape

This is a new discovery for me as using it as a visual element. It's got these kind of silver strands in it. I wish they made strapping tape with gold strands. :)

Paper

Anything old works. Letterhead and manila folders are also nice.

I grew up a hippie's kid so, I took immediate interest in this series The New Gypsies by Iain McKell. I love the portraits. The images are very dream-like, makes you think their life must be all grandiose with homemade kombucha and sage. Of course it's probably difficult at times as well, like the part where your parents don't have a bank account.

I love this editorial, In the Hall with the Candlestick, for a number of reasons. Clue is one of my all time favorite movies, so hilarious. As a child I played Clue a lot or I should say I used to stare at the rooms on game board and make believe that I lived in a mysterious mansion. This editorial has an inconsistency in style (which was off-putting at first) then I saw that each was a character from thegame/film and warmed up to it. I especially love Mrs. White's ensemble and styling (the first photo below).

A while back my good friend Mary gave me a book for my birthday. I never ever bake but, the All Cakes Considered book she gifted me definitely encouraged me to start.
I invited Mary over to help me bake a cake of my choice from the book. There is only two reasons I chose this cake: the level of difficulty (I chose and easy one) and the name "Argroves Manor Coffee Cake", sounds classy. Mary quickly became my baking sensei as she taught me new skills and baking terms. I encourage you to also learn from Mary at her tasty baking blog, Nimmow. I sent him and email and found out he also runs this fun site, Machines of Loving Grace. Also, he's from Rochester, MN which is near where I grew up. I met up with him on one of my trips to Rochester a while ago and he gifted me this amazing typewriter! It's a Galaxie Twelve by Smith Corona, not sure on the year. I love the colors and it's in impeccable condition. I just had to share. I found some more and scanned them in again on the lousy work scanner. I was so devastated that I lost the negatives from this roll I took at the Big Joe Flour Mill in Wabasha, Minnesota before they tore it down. I had some great "abandoned industrial" shots. Which I don't know how much I like to shoot that type of photography much these days but, that's where I started. I also took a really neat lamp that I've seen Pottery Barn or some place replicate.

Both Honey Kennedy and Cat Party posted this lookbook photo series that I am in love with. It's a collaboration with Clever Nettle and Summerland. It really makes me miss taking ballet. I wasn't always a fan of the performance costumes but, I love the ballet practice clothing, it's so comfortable and feminine. Chiffon skirts, tights and leather shoes in that perfect pink. I still own a few pairs of my old dance shoes and some skirts and tights, they are super handy to have around but are getting worn so, I've been researching, to invest in a new set of dance clothes. Muted pastels rock my world.

Oswald's Mill

Retiring to a place like Oswald's Mill has easily become my new life's goal. It's solitude location, architecture, and interior design has my eyes spoiled with indulgence.

It reminds me of a place my dad used to take me when I was little called the Marnach House. There is very little info online. There is this site my dad just sent me about the restoration and this little bio about Elba, a nearby town to the Marnach House. The house is located in the Whitewater Valley area of Minnesota and it was built of stone by the first settlers of the area. Once the weather turns I'll visit the house and do a full write up with photos and more research.

Finally finished a project I started in the Fall that I could not finish until the weather permitted. This project sat in my living room all Winter haunting me with it's unfinishedness.
I transformed an old aluminum lawn chair into a classy looking piece of furniture. I took off the old straps from an aluminum lawn chair, spray painted the frames gold, and sewed new canvas straps with a ribbon backing to prevent stretching. I attached the canvas straps with gold grommets which was the tedious part.

Travel Log Day 5?: Spacious Hotel

Today we went to the worst restaurant in Palm Springs. Who knew there could be bad Mexican food in Southern California. Later, we spent some chill time poolside with drinks and reading. It wasn't easy but, at night we brought down the house with karaoke at the Amigo Room and awoke to Gaby's wake-up call at 6 a.m.

I'd like to introduce you to Surely, Gaby's lovely pooch.

Kaytlin felt terribly inspired to dress to Palm Springs karaoke standards.

Also, Kaytlin banged out an amazing jazz version of "take me out to the ball game". Take it home sister.

Travel Log Day Something or Other.

Alright, I made it to LA where I got to see my good friend Kaytlin Borgen. We hit a couple of bars and went back to her place for the night. The next morning we went to Stories for breakfast which, was a really fun book store and coffee shop. Here's some photos of Kaytlin, her boyfriend Ben, and of course their cat Frankie Royale in their backyard.

We drove down to the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and got settled in to go out. We went to the diner at the hotel and played Bingo. Kaytlin won the blackout round! Her prize was beer and desserts.

Travel Log Day 2: The Long Rainy Drive

I woke up Sunday morning at my brother's place in Orinda. Got a sweet view of my brother picking up dog feces.

The plan was to meet my friend, Gaby, around ten and drive South to LA. Unfortunately, my friend had attended a smashing party the night before and had lost her phone and overslept. After knocking on her door to wake her we tracked down her phone at a roller derby practice.

Then we hit the road, avocados in tow.

Travel Log Day 1: Ferry Farmer's Market/Vintage Expo

Today started out with a trip to the farmer's market at the Ferry building. We had breakfast and I got to taste cheese from the local farmers. I love cheese. Also got to check in on the Frog Hollow Farms stand which, is the farm my brother works for.

After the morning at the pier we did some shopping and headed to the Vintage Expo where I found some amazing treasures.

New Shoes Song

The season changing before my eyes pairs the craving of a new pair of shoes. I spied these Alfreds by Louboutin which, are very pretty.

Though, I feel like I already own the black pair above because they are a close match to my Capezio Jazz Oxfords that used to be either mine or my sisters from dance school. I highly recommend picking up a pair of these if you like to trot around the house often. They are terrific and support arches well!
